The Mesozoic Era is a geologic era that lasted from about 252 to 66 million years ago. It is also known as the "Age of Dinosaurs" because this was the time when dinosaurs were the dominant form of life on Earth.

The Mesozoic Era is divided into three periods:

The Triassic Period was a geologic period that lasted from 252 to 201 million years ago. It was the first period of the Mesozoic Era, also known as the "Age of Dinosaurs." During this time, the supercontinent Pangaea began to break apart, leading to the formation of the modern continents. The Triassic was characterized by the evolution and diversification of several important groups of organisms, including dinosaurs, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians. The climate during the Triassic was hot and dry, with high levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The Triassic Period ended with a mass extinction event that wiped out many species, paving the way for the evolution of new groups of organisms in the Jurassic Period.

The Jurassic Period :

The Jurassic period was a geological period that occurred between 199.6 million and 145.5 million years ago. It was part of the Mesozoic Era, which lasted from 252.17 million to 66 million years ago. During the Jurassic period, the Earth's climate was much warmer than it is today, and the continents were still in the process of separating from each other.

During the Jurassic period, there was a diverse array of life on Earth, including dinosaurs, marine reptiles, mammals, and various types of plants. Some of the most well-known dinosaurs from this period include the Allosaurus, Stegosaurus, and Brachiosaurus. Many of these species are now extinct, but their fossils can still be found in various parts of the world.

The Jurassic period is named after the Jura Mountains in Switzerland, where many of the first Jurassic fossils were discovered. It is divided into three sub-periods: the Early Jurassic, the Middle Jurassic, and the Late Jurassic. The Jurassic period ended with the start of the Cretaceous period, which was marked by the mass extinction of many species, including the dinosaurs.

The Cretaceous Period was a geological period that lasted from 145 to 66 million years ago, during the Mesozoic Era. It is characterized by the appearance of the first flowers, the widespread radiation of birds, and the evolution of many species of dinosaurs, including the tyrannosaurus rex and triceratops.


During the Cretaceous Period, Earth's climate was warmer and more humid than it is today, with tropical rainforests covering much of the land. The continents were also more closely aligned, with the supercontinent Pangaea beginning to break apart into the land masses we know today.


The Cretaceous Period ended with the Cretaceous-Tertiary (K-T) mass extinction event, which wiped out about 75% of all species on Earth, including the dinosaurs. This event is believed to have been caused by a massive asteroid impact, which caused widespread environmental changes and dramatic shifts in the Earth's climate and ecosystems.


Today, the rocks and fossil remains from the Cretaceous Period provide valuable insights into the evolution of life on Earth and the changing climate and conditions of the planet.
